Masai Giraffe Browsing-Kenya-Photo/Image

Masai Giraffe browsing in Southern Kenya

There are several sub-species of giraffe found in Africa. The Masai Giraffe or Kilimanjaro Giraffe(G. c. tippelskirchi) is one such species found in Kenya. Different sub-species are identified by their markings. In this case vine leaf shaped dark patches on a yellowish background.

These animals can be found throughout central and southern Kenya where this shot was taken from a safari vehicle.

Although it is difficult to tell from the photograph this may well be a male giraffe as the horns do not appear to be tufted as found in female animals.

I have seen this animal only in Zoo. How nice to photographed it at their natural environment.
I dreamed visiting the Kurger National Park last night. ;)
